In this world, being considered a hero is a serious matter; it means you’re a criminal destined to fight for all eternity.
And it doesn’t matter if you lose your life in the attempt; your soul is eventually returned to another body so you can continue fighting. The process, besides being extremely painful, involves the loss of memory.
Xylo understands this very well, and despite hating fighting demonic forces, he must continue, even if it means supporting and saving the knights he so despises.
One day, Dotta, his companion, runs frantically through the forest, dragging an immense box. Behind him, various monsters are trying to devour him.
When all seems lost, Xylo appears to save him and heal his deep wounds. At one point, Dotta tells him to let him die, and Xylo tells him he must endure the pain if he wants to remain the same in the future.
Later, Xylo opens the box that Dotta was protecting with such desperation and discovers his worst nightmare. Inside is the body of a goddess, powerful beings created to assist in battle.
At some point in his life, Xylo became involved with one of these goddesses, and now he is serving a sentence as a hero.
Theoritta awakens and sees Xylo as a knight worthy of protection, and when he receives orders to help a group of knights, the goddess rushes after him without hesitation.
Xylo and Dotta cooperate and save the knights, but when the knights realize they were helped by a hero, they begin to complain. Xylo doesn’t care; he only wants to survive and avoid resurrection at all costs.
