Akira is a hardworking salaryman whose kindness often comes at his own expense. One evening, while helping a rookie fix his mistakes, he stays late with him to prevent troubles.
His colleague has personal plans to celebrate an anniversary with his girlfriend, so Akira takes on the additional workload to let the couple celebrate.
On his way home, the couple show up to thank him for being so considerate. Suddenly, Akira sees a child who runs into the busy street, and without thinking twice, he rushes to save him, but the collision costs him his own life.
However, death isn’t the end of Akira’s story. He awakens in an unfamiliar fantasy world, where he discovers that he has been reincarnated as a small, blue goblin.
Even more bewildering, he finds himself surrounded by other goblins who are part of an organized community. Fortunately, he has retained his memories and intelligence from his previous life.
Akira discovers that goblins have an extraordinarily short natural lifespan: just seven days. Their society revolves around rapid reproduction and the inheritance of abilities, with every goblin possessing a unique skill that can be passed on to another goblin when they die.
Fortunately, Akira has received an extraordinary ability of his own; “octogenarian”, that grants him a lifespan of approximately eighty years, an unimaginable privilege for a goblin.
But that’s not all. Akira discovers that he can inherit other’s abilities, and before long, he has accumulated hundreds, transforming what initially seemed like an unfortunate reincarnation into an opportunity.
One day, he comes upon a dying Archfiend, who finds him interesting and offers him the power to make anyone he defeats eternally loyal to him.
Karen, a human knight who encounters Akira is seeking justice after a goblin murdered a human. Their meeting quickly develops into a confrontation, providing an opportunity to see how the newly reincarnated goblin survives.
