Rain is a support mage whose extraordinary abilities have helped an entire adventurer guild find success. Unfortunately, being useful does not guarantee loyalty, and everyone seem to think he does nothing.
Rain’s work is granting enhancement points to weapons and armor. Although he does not participate directly in combat, his magic strengthens the equipment used by his fellow adventurers, helping them survive dangerous quests.
Rain believes he is a valued member of the team, so he is understandably shocked when guild master Barios suddenly announces that he is being dismissed.
After all, with the guild’s equipment already enhanced, Barios considers Rain unnecessary and complains that he cannot fight on his own. Even worse, the adventurers Rain has supported offer him no sympathy.
Disappointed and angry, Rain leaves King’s Fang behind, but he has no intention of letting this setback ruin his future.
Rain’s ability comes with an important advantage once he withdraws the enhancement points assigned to other people’s equipment.
He reclaims every point, but without any armor or weapons he invests 10,000 enhancement points into a simple copper sword and 3,033 into his ordinary cloth clothing.
Now, he plans to become an adventurer, and while searching for a new guild, Rain encounters trouble with a group of men demanding money.
Nina, a friendly guild receptionist, intervenes, giving Rain an opportunity to demonstrate his newly enhanced clothing. The attacker hurts his own hand, leaving Nina impressed enough to direct him toward her guild, Blue Crystal.
Where a group of troublesome men arrives, threatening the guild and demanding that Rain be handed over. To prevent the confrontation from damaging the building further, Rain takes them outside and swings his enhanced sword.
Its tremendous power frightens the troublemakers into retreating, but the attack leaves damage to the surrounding street and property.
Blue Crystal agrees to cover the expense. but now Rain now needs a paying quest to settle his unexpected debt.
