Hayato ho has recently moved from the countryside to the city and transferred to a new high school. Although he is beginning a new chapter of his life, Hayato still carries memories of his childhood friend, Haruki.
They were extremely close when they were kids, spending their days playing together and enjoying their childhood. However, their friendship was interrupted when Haruki moved away.
Seven years later, Hayato finds himself a bit confused when a girl in his class has the same name as his buddy.
The problem, however, is that Hayato always believed Haruki was a boy. As children, Haruki had a tomboyish appearance, so he never questioned his assumption.
Now, after seven years apart, the person standing before him looks completely different. Haruki is known at school for her beauty and seemingly graceful personality.
At first, Hayato simply cannot connect the dots, Haruki, on the other hand, recognizes him much more quickly.
Eventually, her familiar behavior gives the truth away, and Hayato finally realizes that the beautiful girl in his new class is his… or her best childhood friend.
Once they reconnect, it becomes obvious that the years apart have not completely erased their friendship.
Haruki even takes Hayato back to her place, where they spend time playing video games together. For a moment, the years separating them seem almost irrelevant.
Despite Haruki’s dramatic transformation, her relationship with Hayato allows her to drop the polished image and act much more like her old self.
Because Haruki is admired by other students, she has difficulty interacting naturally with people without attracting attention or causing misunderstandings.
Something as simple as sharing lunch with a friend has become unexpectedly complicated for her.
Hayato responds in the most natural way possible: by promising to eat lunch with her whenever he can.
