Outside the uproar of the city of Tokyo, there is a small town, where the only noise comes from the nature.
One day, Renge Miyauchi is on her daily walk to catch up the bus and go to school, she is a first grade elementary school student and wonders if they live in the country or not?
At that moment, Natsumi Koshigaya, a first grade middle-school student appears and greets Renge. At the bus stop, Natsumi’s older sister, Komari, is awaiting.
The day at school seems unusual, and it is, a transfer student from Tokyo has arrived. Hotaru Ichijou is shy and seems to be in shock after moving from a huge city into a countryside town.
Hotaru is intrigued to see that only five students, including her, will be attending school every day. At some point, Hotaru seems sad and estranged.
At lunch time, the girls go outside and play around, while running, Hotaru drops the key from her house. Renge, Natsumi and Komari begin to wonder why she carries out a key.
In town, life is completely different and it has a different pace, and Hotaru begins to realize her life has changed dramatically. Once the day finishes, the girls return home, no one is waiting for Hotaru and Renge invites her to visit her place.
The next morning, Renge is still wondering if they live in the country, after all, she has a wild ‘tanuki’ as a pet and there are cows everywhere.
Natsumi tries to convince her that the country is a different place, and somehow Renge accepts it. Later that day at lunch time, the girls take Horaru on a walk nearby.
The view is spectacular and a huge cherry tree seems to welcome Hotaru to her new life.
