Takuma, a socially awkward gamer whose only confidence comes from his mastery of the MMORPG Cross Reverie suddenly appears in a fantasy world as his favorite character.
In the game, he played as Diablo, an overwhelmingly powerful Demon Lord feared by everyone who encounters him.
As Diablo, Takuma suddenly finds transported into a world that looks exactly like the game. Even more surprising, he seems to have the incredible magic, equipment, and maxed-out stats from Diablo.
Upon awakening, he discovers that two girls are responsible for his summoning: Rem, a petite pantherian adventurer, and Shera, an elven noblewoman.
The pair had attempted a ritual to summon a servant they could control. However, thanks to a magical item possessed by Diablo called the Magic Reflection Ring, the enslavement spell is reflected back onto the casters.
Instead of Diablo becoming their servant, both Rem and Shera end up wearing magical slave collars and are bound to him.
While Diablo appears intimidating and confident on the outside, Takuma is still the same shy gamer underneath. He constantly panics internally whenever he has to interact with others, but he hides his anxiety by roleplaying as the arrogant Demon Lord he portrayed in the game.
As the trio tries to understand the situation, they are confronted by a powerful summoner who doubts Diablo’s abilities. Effortlessly, he demonstrates the overwhelming power of a max-level player character in a world filled with much weaker opponents.
His devastating magic leaves everyone stunned and quickly establishes him as one of the strongest beings in town.
Diablo realizes that he is truly trapped inside this fantasy world. With Rem and Shera now accompanying him due to the slave contracts, the unlikely group sets out together in search of answers.
