Ruri has always been fascinated by shiny objects, and what better than a crystal or a jewel?
She tends to be a somewhat egotistical and capricious girl, so it’s not uncommon to see her ask her mother for an advance on her allowance to buy any old thing.
But when her mother tells her she can find beautiful crystals in the mountain ranges near her house, Ruri can’t believe it.
Even so, she decides to try her luck and heads to where her mother told her to. She discovers that her attire isn’t appropriate for the job, and when she doesn’t see anything from the start, she begins to get discouraged.
Before she can do so, Nagi, a graduate student in mineralogy, appears and is investigating the area. Seeing Ruri’s curiosity, she decides to teach her a lesson.
The path isn’t easy, and although Ruri complains constantly, Nagi encourages her to continue, knowing she might find something interesting.
Together, they find a spectacular place, full of crystals, exactly the ones Ruri likes. Nagi helps her extract some and invites her to learn more another day.
Together they head to another location, where Nagi explains various technical terms to her, and although Ruri isn’t the best student, she begins to learn many new things about the minerals in the mountains of Japan.
