The adventure begins in Orario, the bustling city built around the mysterious and deadly Dungeon.
Bell Cranel, a kind but inexperienced adventurer with big dreams of becoming a hero. Bell is earnest, but a little naïve.
Bell belongs to the tiny Hestia Familia, which consists of just two members: Bell himself and his goddess, Hestia. Hestia is lively, affectionate, and supportive, even though she and Bell struggle with limited resources compared to the larger, more powerful familias in Orario.
While Bell explores the dungeon, we get a glimpse of Aiz Wallenstein, a high-ranking swordswoman from the prestigious Loki Familia.
Bell encounters her in dramatic fashion—after biting off more than he can chew once a Minotaur appears in front of him and is saved by Aiz.
For Bell, the experience is both mortifying and inspiring: being rescued by a strong, beautiful adventurer stings his pride, but it also ignites his determination to grow stronger.
This sets the tone for what’s to come: a mix of action, humor, and heartfelt character dynamics. Bell is an eternal underdog, with ambitions, and he leads a clumsy journey toward heroism.
In the end, Bell dreams of becoming someone worthy of being part of Hestia Familia, and aspires to stand alongside his heroes.
