Yuuta Togashi is really excited; he is now a high school student and wants to start all over again with his life. Why? Well, let’s say that he used to have a mixed personality; actually, he was a complete different person.
With a clear state in his mind and future, Yuuta thinks it’s time to get rid of his past, and that includes giving up on being the Dark Flame Master. But that night, before the high school opening ceremony, Yuuta sees a girl, Rikka Takanashi, climbing down the apartment using a rope. Yuuta is surprised and guides her down.
The next morning, Yuuta thinks that everything will be alright and that his Dark Flame Master past will remain buried for good. While taking his train, Yuuta finds out that Rikka is wearing a patch in her eye and has a strage, but curiously familiar, behavior. And it sees that Rikka truly believes she has a Wicked Eye and that her power is real.
Rikka has just moved in with her sister, who happens to live above Yuuta’s place, and she has no problem showing her powers to the persons around. For Yuuta this has become an issue, because Rikka knows that he is the Dark Flame Master.
Yuuta and Rikka are in the same class, and before anything happens, Rikka approaches Yuuta and says she has been looking for him for a long time. After some laughs, Rikka begins to say her eye hurts and Yuuta is sent with her to the infirmary. Rikka talks to Yuuta and he understands what’s going on, but now that he wants to leave his embarrassing past behind he can’t be seen around Rikka at school.
Unfortunately for Yuuta, he hasn’t realized that Rikka is living above him, and after school, he is told to take her home. Rikka doesn’t hesitate and tell Yuuta that he is his soul mate, in this case is more a delusion, but it’s still embarrassing for him.
As the day ends, Yuuta helps Rikka moving her belongings into her apartment and as she is able to convince Yuuta not to throw away some of his Dark Flame Master belongings.
Yuuta Togashi is a high-school freshman who used to be delusional, believing himself to be the “Dark Flame Master” and becoming alienated from everyone as a result. Finding this to be embarrassing, he attempts to erase this past from existence, even choosing to go to a separate high school from all of his junior-high-school classmates. However, after encountering Rikka, his past delusions come back to haunt him.
Rikka Takanashi is a girl in the same class as Yuuta who moved in with her older sister who lives above Yuuta’s apartment. She is an intensely delusional girl who believes herself to possess a “Wicked Eye” and as such always wears a medical eye patch and bandages around her left arm, though she has no injuries. Despite being quite attached to Yuuta, she is cautious of strangers and adopts a battle pose whenever she meets someone for the first time.
Shinka Nibutani is Yuuta’s classmate and class representative, who is also a cheerleader. One of the most popular girls in the class due to her looks, she is generally thought of a kind and gentle girl. The truth, however is that, much like Yuuta, she was also a delusional teen who called herself Mori Summer and has also chosen a different high school from her previous classmates to escape her past.
Kumin Tsuyuri is a carefree girl who is a year above Yuuta and the others. She loves sleeping and often carrying around a pillow with her wherever she goes. Having been home-schooled before high school, she is very sheltered and conservative, lending her an old-fashioned ladylike demeanor. Her own “Nap Club” is integrated into Rikka’s social group for lack of members.
Sanae Dekomori is an 8th-year student who has very long blonde pigtails that often prove to be more of a hindrance than a help. Like Rikka, she is extremely delusional and often indulges in fantasy with her. However, unlike Rikka, she is a superb student who is at the top of her class and has already completed the entire junior-high mathematics curriculum. She owns several copies of the magic-spells book which is the remaining evidence of Shinka’s delusional days. More at: Wiki
