Yukito grew up as a normal boy, at least until the day his own father made him part of a mysterious cult of the goddess Mitama.
However, his father’s obsession with the goddess Mitama led him to offer Yukito as a sacrifice.
Before dying, Yukito watches his life pass by in an instant, and wishes that if Mitama exists, that she would allow him to revive in a place where religion is not a priority.
Suddenly, we see Yukito opening his eyes and meet Aruraru, who is trying to revive him in an unorthodox way.
Yukito controls himself and begins to wonder that he really arrived to a new world, and immediately imagines that it is one with magic, knights, and quests to accomplish.
He asks Aruraru if there is an adventurer’s guild in town, or a way to work and earn a living.
Yukito ends up plowing the fields and helping with the seasonal harvest, and imagines that he is getting points, as he often did playing video games, but after a couple of months, nothing seems to change in his life.
Despite everything, Yukito has adapted to life in the village, he lives in the same house as Aruraru and her sister, he has used grapes to create wine and has filled the community with joy.
Days later, Yukito accompanies Aruraru and Roy to the capital, where they both suggest Yukito not to converse with anyone.
Looking closely, Yukito realizes that everyone is looking down at them, with disdain, if not contempt.
Before leaving the city, Yukito contemplates what appears to be a public execution, and does not understand what is happening before his eyes.
Aruraru confesses that his town is full of people whom the kingdom considers waste, either because of their way of being or acting. They are discriminated against, and if this is the case, they are forced to take their lives in the name of their ruler.
That night, Aruraru enters Yukito’s room, and after a long talk, she confesses how happy se has been to meet him. As a thank you gift, Yukito gives her his necklace dedicated to the goddess Mitama.
The next morning, Yukito finds Roy lying in front of the house and tells him that Aruraru and her sister have been taken to the capital to be executed.
Yukito dares to challenge the kingdom itself and tries to prevent the death of the girls. When they arrive, Aruraru’s sister has already passed away, and Yukito tries to prevent the same thing from happening to his friend.
Despite putting up resistance, Yukito watches as Aruraru is stabbed and in an oversight, he falls injured next to her.
Seeing the necklace dedicated to Mitama, he wonders what he did wrong to end up like this, because his goddess hasn’t shown up to help him.
Suddenly, the sky darkens, and a slender figure appears in front of a dying Yukito. The one and only goddess Mitama appears, and in her rage she punishes those who have hurt his devoted follower.
Mitama does not hesitate to heal the wounds of Yukito and Aruraru, who wakes up and sees a little girl sitting on Yukito’s shoulders.
