In a remote jungle, Yaiba has spent his life dreaming of samurai warriors.
Under the guidance of his father, an expert in the art of kempo, he spends his days training in an unconventional way, facing the beasts that prowl the jungle.
Yaiba has highly developed senses, and when he focuses, he can evade attacks, even from immense gorillas or tigers.
One day, after defeating a formidable opponent, Yaiba, his father Kenjuurou, and his tiger Kagetora end up locked in a box full of bananas, headed for Japan.
At the airport, we meet Sayaka, a young woman patiently waiting for her father Raizou, a professional kempo competitor.
A commotion occurs at the airport, and Yaiba appears before Sayaka. When he is told she is a woman, Yaiba stares at her closely; after all, it is the first time he has ever met one.
As soon as Kagetora appears, Kenjuurou hurries the rest to leave. It turns out the two parents have known each other for a long time, and Kenjuurou doesn’t hesitate to take his son to Raizou’s house and dojo.
Yaiba is surprised by the size, even more so when Sayaka’s grandmother, Fuji, refuses to let him in, but upon seeing Kenjuurou, he understands why he’s behaving the way he does.
Kenjuurou asks permission to live with them for a while, but to do so, Yaiba must defeat the dojo’s most advanced student, whom the boy immediately compares to a gorilla.
Without further trouble, he defeats him, and the next day he receives news that Kenjuurou has left him in the care of Raizou and his family.
Later, Yaiba accompanies Sayaka to school. On the way, she jokes about monsters, but instead of scaring him, he tells her he will always protect her.
Upon arriving at the school dojo, Yaiba meets Takeshi, a champion, and his first challenge in the city.
