Will made a promise with his childhood friend, Elfaria, that someday they’d be able to go to the top of the magic tower to see the sunset together.
To accomplish that, you must be extremely talented using magic, and Elfaria began to stand out almost immediately. On the other hand, Will seems to have no magical powers.
And despite this, Will has decided to fulfill his promise at all cost. Somehow, he has developed other strengths, he is quite smart and his stamina seems unnatural.
Following Elfaria’s steps, he entered the Regarden Magical Academy, and thanks to his abilities, he has been able to sort out the credit requirements not to be expelled.
To gain extra credits, he usually escapes in the middle of the night to a dangerous dungeon to fight magical beasts and deliver them to professor Workne, who really believes in him.
Without magic, Will is constantly bullied by other students, and even humiliated by his teachers.
Sion, one of his classmates, is always scolding Will for his pitiful spell attempts in class. And Colette, is the only one showing her support to him.
Sion argues that Will should abandon his hopes of becoming a skilled mage, let alone, a Magia Vander, the current position of Elfaria. He tells him that hard work and kindness won’t help him achieve anything.
Depite everything, Will is determined to continue and visits professor Workne and apologizes for entering a dangerous part of the dungeon. Workne tells him he needs to find a way to earn more credits, or he will be expelled.
Workne knows that only Will can enter deeper in the dungeon and gives him a difficult task. Sion listens from outside and decides to go to the dungeon first.
Accompanied by his friends, Sion ends up surrounded by a huge magical beast, more dangerous than the one they were looking for.
His arrogance doesn’t fade up until he sees the creature kill his friends before his eyes. Will senses an intense danger and runs down and finds Sion about to be slayed.
Will may not be able to cast a simple fire spell, but he can decapitate a huge raging monster without hesitation. Sion ends up speechless, contemplating Will’s immense strength in action.
