In 1996, after Dragon Ball Z manga ended, everyone needed some time off, especially Akira Toriyama who was not part of the Dragon Ball GT TV series that followed.
Almost a couple decades after Toriyama is back, he reviewed the never ending Dragon Ball Z and created Dragon Ball Kai. A couple movies later, we find Dragon Ball Super. With the first ED theme, performed by J-Rock band Good Morning America, we begin our TRAX Summer 2015 special.
Next comes ANGRY FROG REBIRTH, a Japanese band formed in 2010. Their first mini album, “Musik” was nonprofessional and did not have a music video to support it, despite that; they sold more than 10,000 copies. They name their musical genre as “Pop Screamo Core”.
After this strong start, we slow down a bit to introduce Michi, a J-Pop singer who made her career debut with the Rokka no Yuusha OP and ED theme single.
Later we find Aoi Tada, a Japaneses singer and former seiyuu. She became well noticed after her performance in the Angel Beats! anime. In the Charlotte anime, she shares the series single with Lia -who finishes this TRAX-.
The pop tunes continue with Imouto S and Ray, born in Hokkaido as Reika Nakayama. She started working as a gravure idol, and made her debut as a singer in 2012 with a single in the Ano Natsu de Matteru anime series. In our special, she performs the ToLoveRU Trouble Darkness 2nd OP theme.
The rhythm starts to change again with Toshiyuki Toyonaga, a seiyuu, actor, singer and songwirter from Japan. He made his debut as voice actor in 2002, he performs Mikado in the Durara!! series. Followed by OxT (Masayoshi Ooishi, Tom Hack) with a strong performance for the Overlord anime.
This special ends just as strong as it began, with the Gate – Jietai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri OP theme performed by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets, OLDCODEX, a J-Rock band from Tokyo formed in 2009. Finally, the well know May’n and Lia, as said before.
